Full time, permanentKarori Pool or Freyberg Pool and Fitness Centre About the employer: Recreation Wellington is committed to providing affordable, accessible recreation and leisure opportunities to the Wellington communities.We have five indoor and two outdoor swimming pools along with five recreation centres and two fitness centres across the city.The role:As a Lifeguard you will work as part of a team tasked with delivering a high standard of customer service and facility presentation to the communities of Wellington. You will ensure the health and safety of customers is maintained through actively supervising all activities within the facility.You will maintain a safe and enjoyable environment and will be trained to respond in the event of an emergency.You will also:

• Provide information to the public on the facilities, programmes, and services available
• Perform various water tests
• Complete relevant administrative tasks
• Carry out any cleaning duties as required.

Our pool facilities are open seven days a week so you must be flexible and be able to work weekends, public holidays, and early or late shifts.To be successful as a Lifeguard you will:

• Have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with staff and customers
• Have the ability to swim at least 200m freestyle
• Excellent customer service skills
• Be a true team player
• Have the ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time
• Be proactive and remain calm during an emergency
• Be committed to their position and reliable
• Hold a current Comprehensive First Aid Certificate (essential)
• Hold a National Pool Lifeguard Award (NPLA) or the Practicing Certificate equivalent.
