The Grey Lynn Neighbourhood Law Office (GLNLO) provides a range of legal services to Grey Lynn and surrounding communities. These services broadly include the provision of legal advice and assistance, and the promotion of legal education and law reform, and are generally provided free of charge to eligible members of the public.
Due to an operational restructuring within this government funded entity, a number of new roles have been created, to ensure the provision of a robust best practice legal function. The role of Administration Practice Lawyer is one of those.
Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the successful candidate will be part of the joint leadership team of the GLNLO, with two main areas of responsibility – the provision of legal services provided by the GLNLO, and responsibility for the administrative functions of the GLNLO, including property management and trust accounting.
To be considered, you will be an intermediate orsenior lawyer with at least5 years general practice PQE in any of thefollowing areas of law – family, employment, immigration, criminal, civil, disputes tribunal work, consumer and tenancy law or similar. In addition to holding a current Practising Certificate, you will be certified as a Trust Account Partner, or be eligible to hold such qualification. You will also posses the following key attributes:
- Proven ability to provide quality legal advice including court appearances, management of files, and significant client contact;
- An ability to manage and lead a team of junior lawyers;
- Excellent relationship management skills including an ability to develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships with the Ministry of Justice and the NZ Law Society;
- Ability to work with and meet the needs of all the GLNLO members and its Board;
- The provision of Trust Account Partner responsibilities;
- Experience in working with a diversity of ethnic communities;
- Effective written communication skills;
- A high level of motivation and passion.
