This 600 bed regional base hospital is looking for Psychiatry Registrars to join New Zealand largest Hospital complex. First established in 1886, this progressive tertiary hospital provides first class specialty services responsive to the health needs of the people of the region servicing a population of 360,200. It employs 2500 staff and treats just under 40,000 inpatients per year. Services include all major specialties. The centre is the main trauma facility for the area. It is affiliated to one of New Zealands major Universities and acts as a teaching and training centre for undergraduates and postgraduate medical and allied health science students.

The hospital itself is located in a city with approximately 168,800 people, 90 minutes from Auckland. It is surrounded by green fields, mountains, bush and farmland, spectacular waterfalls, hot mineral pools, not to mention exceptional beaches and surf!The region boasts a temperate climate with warm summers and mild winters. There are plenty of vibrant cafes and nightlife and the city has recently gained a reputation as a key destination because of its eclectic range of International, National and Local events.

Schools are a mixture of government and non government.Selection Criteria: -To be considered for this opportunity you will have the following:– Minimum 2 years experience in Psychiatry at registrar level- MBBS- Hold current registration or be eligible for registration with Medical Council of New Zealand.- Practiced for the last 36 out of 48 months with full/general registration in a comparable healthcare country. Comparable countries include – UK, Ireland, Australia, Canada or USA – for a full list see www.mcnz.org.nz- You are required to sit the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) test, if you are an international medical graduate from a country where English is NOT a native or first language.
