Mission: to direct and manage the Alliance Franaise Wellington (AFW).The director reports and is responsible to the President and the Executive Committee.Established in 1908, AFW is the largest French teaching institute in New Zealand with 20 staff, over 1000 students and 45,000 hours of French taught each year. AFW is part of the Alliance Franaise network which has its base in Paris and over 1000 Alliances world-wide. AFW is a New Zealand incorporated non-profit organisation promoting French language and culture. To learn more about AFW, visit: www.french.co.nzPrincipal Duties: Managerial: the director oversees the administration and finances of AFW; sets quality standards; manages projects as required by the Executive Committee. Academic: the director is responsible for the general organisation of teaching activities and measures success by the number of different enrolments and the hours sold; oversees and develops quality teaching programmes that respond to the needs of students. External Relationships: promotes the Alliance by fostering links in business, government and diplomatic circles and develops partnerships with educational and other institutions. Cultural: prepares a diverse cultural programme and organises regular arts and cultural events; develops cultural partnerships; ensures the effective functioning of the Resource Centre. Communication: communicates effectively with members and the community of interest of AFW; promotes and markets linguistic and cultural activities; ensures that members and the public are aware of both internal and external courses, exams, training, workshops and other activities; develops the profile of AFW. Human Resources: manages the team of teachers and administrators comprising 6 full-time and 14 part-time workers; ensures professional development of staff as appropriate.Key competencies:High level French and EnglishFrench teaching experience (FLE)Excellent communication and relationship skillsKnowledge of French arts and cultureBusiness management skillsApplications for this role close on 2nd December 2011.
