Creative New Zealand needs a skilled pair of hands to research, document and communicate information on funding and capability building resources available for Pasifika artists. The work will also entail assisting with Creative New Zealands 2012 consultation about Pasifika Arts Development.
This role will be offered by way of a contract for services for 12 months. Expressions of interest will be accepted from individuals or organisations.
Ideally the role will be based in Wellington, but an Auckland base would be considered for the right applicant.
Skills and experience necessary for this role are:
- Proven understanding and knowledge of the arts and culture of Pasifika arts, artists and communities
- Knowledge of, and respect for, kaupapa Pasifika and tikanga Maori
- Expertise in researching and documenting the activities and services offered by the New Zealand public and private sector, including public funding agencies and their policies
- Expertise in project planning, execution, reporting and evaluation
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant area such as fine arts, social sciences, marketing or equivalent skills or experience
- Ability to pronounce Maori and Pasifika place names and basic greetings correctly. Fluency in a Pacific language would be an advantage
- A good understanding and application of information technology and social media platforms
- Excellent skills in the use of PowerPoint, Publisher, the Microsoft suite and databases
- Understanding of the principles and practice of the Treaty of Waitangi, and the implications of this for the work of Creative New Zealand
