COGNOS CONSULTANT

Our client is a leading global IT Consultancy and has an urgent requirement for a Lead Cognos Consultant. This is a technical role and the job holder will be expected to perform client specific assignments related to your technical specialism, occasionally alone but usually as part of a larger team. They will provide coaching and quality assurance as appropriate to others whose work involves their technical specialism. They will identify further opportunities to apply their specialism to the benefit of the client and will assist other internal staff to develop these opportunities as appropriate. Depending on experience of the individual and size and complexity of the client solution, responsibilities will include some or all of the following:* Analysis of customer requirements including provision of accurate estimates for implementation* Logical and physical database design taking both functional and non-functional (e.g. performance, reliability, resilience, usability) requirements into account* Data analysis (and occasionally data modelling, data cleansing and data migration)* Design, code, unit testing and documentation of various reports * Support for System and User Acceptance testing * Coaching and mentoring less experienced staff * Identifying and bringing to the attention of managers opportunities for further workSkills and competencies:-* Capture and analysis of User Requirements * Proven experience of designing and implementing Cognos 8, Cognos 10 solution * Understanding of Cognos solution architecture and complex deployment scenarios * DBMS such as Oracle (preferably 11g), MS SQL Server, etc. * Good understanding and working experience of data modelling, Joins & Schemas * Full life-cycle development exposure * Rapid Application Development (RAD) or similar Essential:* Proven experience of at least 2 successful Cognos 8, Cognos 10 implementations * Expertise in metadata modelling using Cognos framework manager * Expertise in Report Studio and Analysis Studio * Expertise in developing complex Cognos Cubes * Expertise in Cognos installation and Configuring Cognos security * Proven experience of user requirements gathering and data modelling * Experience of working in a structured IT environment ** Experience of working in an IT consultancy/IT services organisation Desirable:* Cognos Certification. * Additional BI skills in products such as TM1 Business Objects, OBIEE, Qlikview etc.
