The Financial Markets Authority is a recently-formed independent crown entity that monitors and enforces securities, financial reporting, and company law as it applies to finance services and products, and securities markets. We also regulate securities exchanges, clearing houses, financial advisers and brokers, trustees and issuers (including issuers of superannuation and Kiwi Saver schemes). Shortly we will also regulate auditors.
Reporting to the Manager, Retail Surveillance, you will be responsible for providing high quality monitoring and surveillance of participants in the retail sector, including coaching and mentoring less experienced advisors within the team. A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or a professional financial adviser qualification is desirable.
Ideally, you will have a background in the financial advice sector in roles that involved a significant audit / compliance / monitoring / risk management component. You can easily identify advice issues, and are focused on finding pragmatic solutions to achieve positive consumer outcomes. You will have a strong desire to contribute to the FMA’s regulatory outcomes as a means of improving public confidence in the financial advisory industry.
This is an excellent opportunity to join the FMA at a crucial time when we are building progressive, dynamic, and results-orientated teams who are dedicated to the financial success of New Zealand. Whilst this position will be based in Auckland or Wellington, regular travel within New Zealand is required.
To apply for this position, please email your CV and covering letter outlining your suitability by 5pm on Monday 14 November 2011. For further information, please phone Anna Sage (Senior Human Resources Adviser) on 04-474 2077. No agencies initially please.
