Are you an experienced health professional with a passion to improving the healthcare of Maori here in Otago?
We have a fixed term position here with the Southern District Health Board in Dunedin for a health professional to join us to continue our work in building the capacity and capability of our services to provide culturally sensitive and appropriate health services to Maori.
In this role you will be responsible for identifying issues with the delivery of our services to patients and whanau, and assisting in the development and implementation of strategies to reduce the inequalities in health.
In addition to the role, you will lead and provide cultural education to hospital staff and assist in the implementation of the Southern DHB Maori Health Plan.
You will be an extremely effective communicator with the ability to build rapport with patients and whanau and also to provide support and guidance to staff in a professional manner.
It goes without saying that you will be a registered health professional; understand the importance of the Treaty of Waitangi, have good knowledge of tikanga Maori practices and the current situation of Maori Health, have a minimum five years experience working in the health sector, preferably with experience in a hospital environment and speaking te reo would be an advantage.
