Are you passionate about educating youth about health and want to make a difference?
In this position, you will work in partnership with participating Manurewa schools and their communities to assist staff, students and their families to improve their health.Specifically you will be assisting and enhancing the ways in which schools actively promote the health, social and physical wellbeing of students, staff and family/whanau.
One of the key responsibilities for this position is to address Maori health needs by encouraging schools to prioritise these needs.
You will be involved in promoting “healthy families” and working with teachers and members of the community to develop programmes.
As someone with great interpersonal skills, you will build strong relationships with people at all levels and from a variety of areas, and will be culturally sensitive as you will be dealing with people from all walks of life. Your excellent attention to detail and outstanding project management skills will be invaluable with facilitating and coordinating community projects.
The ideal person will have a background in public health, nursing or sports and recreation with a relevant tertiary qualification, extensive experience in community and youth development and proven relationship management skills across diverse communities and related organisations, agencies and providers.
You must have previous experience working with children or in a school environment and successful candidates must possess a clean and current drivers licence.
