Registered Nurse Neuro / TBI Skills
A nurse with TBI rehabilitation or good neuro skills will find this unique role challenging and rewarding. The work is within the Waikato DHB. The appointee will join the team of specialist nurses who are coordinating services at Auckland, Waikato and Northland DHB.
The role has been established to screen ED presentations to identify and assess all clients with TBI, and develop a predicated individual clinical rehabilitation pathway. You will also provide information and support to family-whanau, communicate effectively with ACC, provide specialist advice, education and support to hospital staff as required and coordinate services to ensure timely transition to residential rehabilitation.
Services are built on a philosophy of integrity and respect for all stakeholders. The ACC contract that established this role is an exciting opportunity to develop a model service structure for clients with moderate and severe TBI that meets individual and cultural needs. You will be hospital based but be part of a larger team working on this model in partnership with ACC, AUT and Auckland University.
Essential Skills:
- At least three years experience in a neuro setting
- Confidence to work with a wide range of staff in the acute hospital as well as ACC case managers and community providers
- Skills and experience in working with and supporting families-whanau
- Excellent written and I.T. skills, and proven communication skills.
