We are seeking an enthusiastic person to join the Science Department at Scots College to support the teaching staff, coordinate teaching resources, manage hazardous substances and generally maintain equipment and materials in the Colleges Science Labs. This is an entry mid level permanent position, ideally commencing in early November 2011.Scots College is an Independent Presbyterian College for Boys situated in the Eastern suburbs of Wellington. With a roll of close to 800 boys (of whom around 500 are in the Secondary College) our students are dedicated and willing to learn. While high academic expectations are part of the Colleges culture, it is well known for its holistic approach to the education of young men, and encourages them to take other opportunities such as those available for their sporting, cultural and spiritual development. For life.Most importantly, applicants must have: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills The ability to work alongside students as well as College staff The willingness to assist and go the extra mile High standards, and a need to be conscious of detail A current, working knowledge of COP An understanding of how to ensure Lab practices need to align with regulatory requirements, and an ability to develop and monitor processes to match these requirements.Applicants will ideally have also have had at least some experience working in a school Science Lab although high level qualifications and extensive experience are not required.Applications close on Monday 3 October 2011 and are to comprise a covering letter and current CV (including the names of at least three referees).
