Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) is an Auckland council-controlled organisation, established to lift the Auckland region’s economic wellbeing, and support and enhance the ability of the region to compete internationally.
The organisation has a significant role in attracting and planning for major events, like Rugby World Cup 2011. Additionally, it has responsibility for marketing Auckland as a tourism destination, developing tourism products and running the region’s visitor information centres.
As the Manager of Destination Marketing and Communication, you will lead, develop and plan a world-class destination marketing, communications and e-tourism strategy and programme for Auckland as well as ensuring that Auckland‘s destination marketing contributes to enhancing New Zealand’s brand reputation.
You will be required to work collaboratively with Tourism New Zealand, airlines and other key international marketing partners to ensure that marketing of Auckland is appropriately positioned domestically and internationally, consistent with the Auckland brand direction. You will have proven industry networks and an innate ability to create, foster and manage relationships with key media figures.
Internally you will work with ATEED’s central marketing and communications team to execute marketing and communications activity at a tactical level, based on the briefs you will prepare. You will monitor the performance of the implemented marketing plans, ensuring that relevant internal and external stakeholders are kept appraised of the results and that plans are appropriately adjusted to respond to market conditions and performance of marketing campaign tactics.
With a relevant tertiary qualification and a minimum of five years experience in a similar role, you will be an astute communications and marketing practitioner with experience in leading a team that delivers quality outputs. Specific experience and knowledge of the tourism sector is essential. A confident, articulate individual, you enjoy working in a challenging environment with a high public profile.
