The Senior Case Manager role sits within the Case Management function within Rehabilitation and Reintegration Services (RRS). RRS provides rehabilitation and reintegration programmes and services to prisoners and offenders in the community.
Senior Case Managers provide specialist, end to end case management of prisoners including initial assessment, identification of prisoner needs, case planning and preparing prisoners for release. Senior Case Managers use a range of services and techniques such as motivational interviewing and working with external support groups and the prisoners’ families to support prisoners as they rehabilitate.
Senior Case Managers will deal with prisoners identified with high and complex needs. They will also provide on the job guidance and support to Case Managers and play a key role in embedding practice standards as well as supporting the implementation of new policies and procedures.
Candidates will need knowledge and experience in case management and/or rehabilitation and reintegration related disciplines and practices at a senior level. Excellent relationship management and communication skills are also essential, particularly the ability to communicate verbally in a respectful way that motivates and supports prisoners to make positive changes.
Knowledge and experience working with Maori and Pacific Peoples and their families and communities is essential.
