Our client is an established South Island business, that have diverse business interests in property, investment and fisheries.
About the role:
In this role you will be responsible for developing and implementing applied research projects to develop key assets in our client’s communities in areas including sustainable fisheries, farming, environment and culture. You will have the ability to work across all networks of the business to identify key opportunities and build collaborative research and development projects to realize opportunities. Networking with CRI’s with the capability to work in partnership with our client is an important component of this role. You will be working closely with the Chief Executive and staff as well as external stakeholders.
You will be responsible for:
- Acting as a role model communicating and gaining acceptance of our client’s vision, goals and organizational values
- Ensuring that our clients operational policies are implemented and monitored
- Ensuring that financial, capital and human resources within delegated authorizes are managed
- Developing and commercializing and developing novel products
- Collaborating and writing research bids
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A Masters Level qualification with an emphasis on multidisciplinary and sustainability approaches to solving problems – although qualifications in other relevant areas to research and development will be considered
- Proven networking and project management skills
- The ability to write quality research bids in collaboration with research providers
- Capacity to work enthusiastically and constructively
- Demonstrated leadership ability in complex and politically sensitive environments
- Familiarity with the Treaty of Waitangi and its applications within Maori contexts
- Experience interacting effectively with multiple industry stakeholders
- Graduate research experience as part of a research team
- Experience in commercializing and developing novel products
