Coming from a variety of backgrounds, we are a dynamic organisation where there is always something more to learn.Peer support workers support people to make positive changes in their lives by helping them identify their strengths and desires, set goals, and plan the necessary steps to achieve them. We currently have a 22 hour per week vacancy in our Christchurch team. This vacancy is for a fixed term of 2 years. The person we are looking for will:

  • Have active listening and good communication skills
  • Have experienced mental illness themselves
  • Be positive and encouraging with a good sense of humour
  • Enjoy working with and supporting people
  • Hang in there when the going gets tough
  • Be mature, kind, patient and respectful
  • Be able to role model how one can move on from mental illness
  • Be a critical reflective thinker
  • Have the desire to focus on people’s strengths
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a supportive team
  • Have a driver’s license and their own vehicle
  • Have computer skills, and an on-line home PC
