As we continue towards our vision of an integrated “One Downer” culture and head into a period where we will be instrumental in assisting the rebuild of our beautiful Garden City Christchurch, your role will be to assist the business to meet those challenges by fostering strong relationships with our business managers and supporting them in these endeavours.

This is another new role to join our existing passionate team of HR Managers, HR Advisors and South Island Recruitment Advisor to provide HR Advice and pragmatic business solutions on the ground. Whilst the usual suite of HR generalist advice will be given on a day to day basis, a key focus of your role will be to embed our learning framework into the business so that it is working at an operational level.

About You

  • You seek and understand the value of forming strong business relationships and have solid experience in partnering with operational management in an HR Advisory capacity.
  • You have the knowledge and experience to embed learning initiatives. Whilst you are competent in generalist HR Advice (induction, performance management, disciplinary, Union negotiations, legislative advice, exits), coaching in learning and development is where your passion lies.
  • You are pragmatic by design with a values-driven core.
  • You enjoy the idea that you will need to influence across not only a large geographic area (travel will be required) but across a diverse business (Telecommunications, Transportation, Water and Facilities Management) and work culture.
  • You have 3-5 years experience in an HR role and preferably a relevant HR qualification
