CDHB has a total budget of $1.3 billion and employs approximately 9,000 staff, providing acute services to the Canterbury region and increasingly across much of the South Island. Christchurch Hospital provides a comprehensive range of medical and surgical services, including: emergency, ICU, theatre and support services.The Nursing Director Medical reports to the Director of Nursing, Medical and Surgical Division and has working relationships with the Chair/Chief and Operations Manager to ensure delivery and implementation of the CDHB vision and strategy. The Medical Cluster incorporates Cardiology, Respiratory, General Medicine, and Speciality Medicine across two sites.This is a key professional and operational leadership role, with input to operational and staffing decisions and a critical role in the governance of nursing services. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a culture of collaboration, stimulating nursing innovation and identifying and implementing opportunities for increasing the quality of outcomes for patients and organisational performance.Key skills and experience required include:
- Proven leadership success in a busy acute hospital
- A demonstrated strength in building collaborative partnerships
- A vision for innovative nursing practice and accountability for performance
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to lead organisational change
