The School of Workplace Learning has a vacancy for a permanent full time Academic Staff Member Sciences. This role is responsible for teaching teachers new science programmes aimed at up-skilling primary teachers in science subjects. This exciting new position will help primary school teachers to increase their knowledge and ability to teach science and become science champions within their schools. The successful candidate will:-
Be responsible for teaching science to primary school teachers within the Polytechnic s new science programmes;
Preferably have some recent experience in teaching science within the primary sector or in teaching teachers:
Relevant post graduate qualification and preferably a teaching qualification, or experience in science education;
Have the ability to teach, guide and assess students studying in a distance education mode, an interest in online education, and a passion for science:
Be proficient with electronic technology (for example MS Office, Internet, Social Networking);
Be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to improve student success, retention, and completion rates;
If you are student focused, a self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills, can demonstrate academic leadership qualities, are committed to working collegially across the polytechnic and with industry, and able to contribute professionally to your expert area of teaching – then we want to hear from you!
