Youll be repairing and maintaining The NZ Army fleet. Our vehicles are primarily diesel, but there are a few vehicles which run on petroleum. You will be given all the knowledge and tools required to diagnose and repair any possible fault with any of our fleet of vehicles, from forklifts to the NZLAV and more.
To be considered as a Vehicle Mechanic you will need to be selected as a soldier and undergo basic soldier training and specialised trade training prior to being posted to your unit to being your exciting career as a Vehicle Mechanic.
You will need:
To be a minimum age of 17.
Year 11 completion.
A proven ability in English and Maths at NCEA Level 1 (12 credits per subject) or equivalent, also 12 credits in one of the following: Graphics and Design, Science, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering or Applied Mathematics.
Drivers Licence: A Class 1 Restricted drivers licence is recommended.
If you are offered a position in the New Zealand Army, you will be posted to one of our NZDF locations around the country with the most likely postings being in Linton, Burnham, Trentham or Burnham.
However, after you basic soldier training, your first posting will be to Trentham Military Camp in Wellington.
