We have a great opportunity for an experienced Compliance Office (CO) to join us at Velocity Trade.
You will be working closely with the General Manager in Auckland and a Director in Sydney to ensure the companies compliance requirements are met in a timely manner. Due to this the role could be based in Auckland or possibly Sydney.
Velocity Trade deals with products such as margin foreign exchange, cfds and physical foreign exchange. The successful applicant will need an understanding of all these areas in New Zealand and Australia. This is a broad role that involves making sure that the company meets all its legal and regulatory obligations. The main duty is to protect the business by preventing unethical, illegal or improper conduct.
The main Duties:
  • Acting as the primary contact point for all compliance and legal issues internally and externally.
  • Setting up and monitoring processes and procedures.
  • Updating standards, policies and procedures to reflect changes in relevant regulation.
  • Prepare and make sure all filing and reporting obligations are completed on time
  • Investigate and manage violations of procedures, policies and rules and manage disputes and complaint with external parties.
  • Advising management on changes in regulations and legal compliance aspects of new business opportunities.
The major challenge will be to support the growth of the business while making sure all external rules and regulations are met without impeding business ambition. This is a wide business focused role that includes a mix of legal and compliance.

The successful applicant will ideally have experience in the following areas:
  • Financial Compliance and / or a legal background
  • Be able recognise risks and proactively address them
  • Have high level of trustworthiness
  • Find ways to minimise compliance costs
  • Work well with a range of different people and have good communications skills
  • Display high levels of positive energy and can do attitude
  • Good understanding of financial legal environment in New Zealand and Australia
  • Display a high level of professionalism, including standard of dress and demeanour.
  • Be honest and ethical with customers and fellow colleagues at all times
  • Have good time-management skills and have a results focused attitude.
  • Have high levels of initiative, display good team work skills, are flexible and adaptable.
  • Be able to develop long term relationships both internally and externally, based on trust, confidence and mutual respect.
  • Have interest and ideally have experience within the financial services industry.
