The New Zealand Orthopaedic Association (NZOA), as a leading surgical speciality group provides leadership in all matters relating to orthopaedic surgery, education and research. It promotes excellence in standards of patient care and professionalism by providing, developing and encouraging training, research and professional development in orthopaedic surgery and related musculoskeletal disorders. It is the dominant source of advice to Government, ACC, and other health-related organisations and agencies on orthopaedic matters. The NZOA represents the broad interests of its members in specific areas, and advocates for effective and timely treatment for patients with musculoskeletal conditions.
The NZOA is looking for a new CEO as their current CEO is retiring after 10 years in the position. In this role you will be responsible for leading a small team based in Wellington and have a broad range of responsibilities for providing strategic leadership of the organisation including representation and advocacy at a time of increasing demand for orthopaedic services but with restricted resource availability. You will be responsible for taking a lead role in continuing the development and promotion of a positive image of the Association in the eyes of the Government, the health sector and the public.
As this is a senior role strong leadership skills, an understanding of health policy development and a high level of general business management acumen are essential as well as previous experience within the health sector. You will also ideally understand the needs of a membership based organisation and be comfortable dealing with the media and leading health influentials. The NZOA is looking for someone with proven ability to develop and maintain relationships as well as demonstrating sound financial skills together with an overall positive business attitude.
