The District is still experiencing significant growth driven by major new investments in mining (especially coal and gold), transport, farming, tourism and other industries.
The Grey District Council is looking for a Building Control Officer to undertake a range of regulatory functions relating to the Building Act 2004. Situated in the Building team and reporting to the Senior Building Control Officer, you will be responsible for undertaking building inspections, building consent processing and working closely with Customer Service Officers, property owners and industry.
To be successful in this position you will have:
A building, construction or relevant trade qualification.
Job-related training and detailed knowledge of Building Act, Building Regulations, Building Code and consent processes.
Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
Good communication skills written & oral to prepare reports and correspondence, negotiate with builders/owners etc.
Full drivers licence desirable.
Ideally, you are already working as a Building officer and have experience in Building Act related processing and/or inspections. However candidates with other building design, trade or regulatory processing experience will be considered.
