Palmerston North City Council are one of New Zealands Local Government innovators, they have a reputation as an employer of choice and have a progressive approach to managing their city networks and infrastructure.

They currently have a vacancy within their roading group for an Infrastructure Investigations Engineer, which is responsible for ensuring that the councils roading network is able to meet the demands of the city through ongoing evaluation and direction.

The role itself focuses on the investigation and monitoring of the citys roading network with a view to implementation and distribution of the councils capital projects. There is a strong strategic bias to this role; consequently it is a stand alone position reporting directly to the Roading Manager. Key elements for success include investigation, network analysis (crash sites, congestion etc), cost benefit breakdown, ultimately looking towards the allocation of project funding and associated recommendations.

The successful candidate will be an experienced Civil Engineer that has a good background in managing a similar asset portfolio. The role itself needs someone who will be able to own the asset group and take accountability for the associated end to end project plans.

You will be a good communicator and used to dealing with cross functional stakeholder groups, additionally you will be used to accountability and working in a collaborative environment.

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of an established and well respected team adding value to a high profile progressive local government portfolio.
