The team, one of five belonging to the Southern Resource Consents and Compliance Unit of the Auckland Council, is based in Pukekohe.The team services an area of varied landscape (windswept rugged Awhitu Peninsula to the market gardens of Bombay) which features, amongst other planning issues, conflicting demands between development and the protection of high quality soils.

In this role you will develop a team environment and provide resource management expertise and leadership to all team members.You will be instrumental is guiding team members through the assessment of resource consent applications against the relevant provisions of the District Plan, Resource Management Act and other statutory requirements, in order to make recommendations to decision makers to facilitate positive environmental outcomes.As a Team Leader you will be responsible for peer reviewing reports and delegated decision making functions.

As a proven team leader, you will mentor and support a team of up to 10 enhancing their potential and in turn, the service offered to our customers.Your reputable planning background will ensure confidence in your team’s ability to approach you for advice and guidance.As well as your team’s professional growth, you will also focus on your own development, staying abreast of wider planning issues, industry updates, technical knowledge including legislation and cross training within other teams.As a customer centric organisation, we pride ourselves on having a great reputation and you will instil this in your team, ensuring that resource consent applications are processed effectively and efficiently.You will act as a subject matter expert, providing professional advice and handling escalations.

The suitable person for this role will have a minimum of seven years experience in the resource management field, preferably with staff leadership experience, ideally within New Zealand.This experience together with a related tertiary qualification will make you the perfect applicant.
