Collection Methods leads the research and standards development for collection methodology so that collections and outputs are based on sound, internationally accepted best practice.

Standards, Solutions and Capability (SS&C) have responsibility for the development of standard approaches in collection methodology and building Statistics New Zealand’s statistical capability. We are seeking a person with an aptitude for questionnaire design to join the Collection Methods team. You will help with the development of collection methodology and testing of new approaches to collection design across the organisation.

As a result of Statistics 2020 – Te Kapehu Whetu, Collection Methods are an integral part of the Transform Collections at Statistics New Zealand.

The role involves working with survey areas across the organisation to build the capability of survey developers through:

  • development of methodological standards to identify and promote best practise in survey development
  • technical evaluation and support for questionnaire development by working alongside survey developers
  • facilitation and support for a cohesive programme of forums and workshops for survey developers
  • support for research projects in collection methodology led by the SS&C Senior Researcher.
