We have a specialist team that look after our clients BI requirements. Its a close knit group that work in a very collaborative fashion and have a mix of cross functional skills and levels of ability.
We are about to launch an ambitious project which will be the foundation for standardising our reporting offering across the companys products. You would be a key part of the brains trust that is going to work out the road map but also be very active building and implementing the solutions which come out of the design phase.
Your team forms part of a larger Research and Development group which is split between Auckland and Tallahassee in North America. Together the R&D group are responsible for developing and maintaining our products which are sold and supported around the globe.
What will you be doing?
- Applying your strategic approach to look at how we can deliver a best practice analysis services solution. More specifically youll be using a domain modelling approach to design and develop customisable SSAS solutions for our clients.
- Using your extensive development skills to build the solution in conjunction with the rest of the development team. This will include designing the cubes as well as developing the queries to extract the data.
- Youll have a really good feel for the implications of performance on the cubes and queries and youll be able to optimise the design and build to ensure that this has been taken into account.
- Researching and providing recommendations around new features in future versions of SQL Server.
- Youll be working collaboratively with different parts of the business and key stakeholders to ensure a constant flow of information, ideas and research.
- Follow our Agile methodology employing agile philosophies, contributing towards improving methodology implementation and taking a lead role in meetings.

- Communication youll be expected to show significant product and technical leadership so this will be a real strength.
- Conceptual skills youll be able to apply in depth your professional knowledge and youll understand the underpinnings of concepts in the BI / Data warehousing and related technical areas as they would apply to complex products and large global clients.
- Technical skills expertise with SQL Server Analyst Services and Reporting Services. Your MDX skills will need to be sharp as will your SQL skills (were on SQL Server 2008 R2). You might have relevant certifications (MCTS and MCITP) in the BI areas.
