The role of Scientific Officer offers variety and challenge and a lifestyle like no other.The role of Scientific Officer Freshwater Biology is part of our wider Technical Services team and is particularly responsible for supporting the Councils water quality management functions, particularly associated with freshwater biology. The duties are varied and include input into resource consents investigation, compliance and state of the environment monitoring, and regional plan implementation and research.The successful candidate will ideally hold a tertiary qualification specializing in freshwater biology, in a scientific or environmental management discipline (freshwater biology will be an advantage), together with other fields such as water quality management, ecology ,or environmental chemistry, (or equivalent experience). Experience in water quality monitoring and/or resource management, together with a knowledge of statistical analysis would be helpful. You will be able to deliver projects on time and within budget and have excellent written and oral communication skills.Taranaki Regional Council, based in Stratford, offers an attractive workplace in a friendly and supportive environment.
