This role primarily involves monitoring active and closed landfill sites and assessing resource consent applications. It entails reviewing scientific reports and monitoring activities on-site. We seek to work collaboratively with landfill owners and operators and this role includes negotiations and discussions at a senior level and meeting community groups. It is always varied, challenging and rewarding and you will often be working in the field and experience first hand the environmental issues facing the Auckland Region.

We are seeking someone with a relevant tertiary qualification, preferably with a science and chemistry focus and a minimum of two years relevant experience.Using your excellent time management, interpersonal and communication skills, combined with an understanding of the Resource Management Act, you will work across the region to prevent and minimise the risks of land and water pollution. In addition, you will also be involved in promoting best practice and raising environmental awareness to improve industry understanding of their obligations under the Resource Management Act and the Auckland Regional Plan: Air, Land and Water.

The position has a secondary role within the wider earthwork and contaminated land team and other activities within the scope of this team will be involved from time to time.
