Position OverviewReporting to the General Manager Australia/New Zealand, and working closely with the Australian Station Managers (OOL/MEL/PER), the Station Manager, New Zealand, is responsible for the smooth operational function of the airport process, including direct liaison with the New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority, on behalf of AirAsia X. Key duties are managing passenger movements within the airport precinct on scheduled flights, monitoring ground handlers in case of disruptions and delays, and acting as a passenger contact with head office as required. This role will suit a self-starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks and direct and guide ground handlers and all contracted parties to the airline. This is a permanent part-time position to a maximum of 30 hours per week.Key Responsibilities
- Regulatory liaison: Responsible for dealing directly with the New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority
- Manage the nominated ground handler passenger movement process: Pre-check in – Check in – Baggage reconciliation – Departure gate process – Boarding – Closing the flight – Reporting
- Manage ramp operations: Arrival and departure ramp movements – Cargo – Engineering – Fuelling – Cleaning – Lost luggage
- Manage post-flight operations: Banking – Daily service reports – Closed flight procedures – Debriefing of all staff
- Provide timely and accurate monthly station reports
- Manage mishandled guests issues and any guest complaints
- Assist in the contracting process with relevant third parties
- Represent the airline for safety/security/operational meetings as required at airport
- On-time Performance (OTP) focus
- Support ad hoc projects as required
- Obsessive focus on cost effective and innovative marketing practices to stay one step ahead of the competition and help to drive sales
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in a relevant field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a managerial role (with or without experience in the airline industry, travel distribution reservation or ramp experience)
- Strong understanding of airport operations and passenger movements
- Ability to manage multiple tactical and strategic projects
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to converse with Senior
- Management and high-ranked external figures
- Ability to provide support liaising within the AirAsia Group
- Demonstrable passion for travel
- Must be able to undertake international travel as required
