Plant & Food Research conducts research that adds value to fruit, vegetable, crop and food products. Our science and associated commercialisation activities support the production of high quality produce that earns a premium in international markets.Quantifying the footprints of primary products, life cycle assessment and an understanding of soil, water and carbon dynamics are crucial to the success of our diverse portfolios of research. Within the Sustainable Production portfolio the Production Footprints Team provides a range of functions from underpinning and applied research through to systems modelling and the development of decision support tools. The team actively participates in a wide variety of collaborations with other Crown Research Institutes, the New Zealand Life Cycle Management Centre, the New Zealand Biochar Centre and the New Zealand Greenhouse Gas Research Centre.This vacancy represents an outstanding career opportunity for a soil scientist or systems modeller with a postgraduate degree in soil-biophysical science, or life cycle assessment. Candidates who combine an established record of achievement as a senior scientist with the capacity to inspire and guide a team of researchers will also be considered for the team leader role.
