Technical Officer, Wellington
The New Zealand Customs Service promotes leadership and excellence in border management that enhances the security and prosperity of New Zealand. An opportunity exists for a Technical Officer as part of the Corporate Support team in Wellington.
The function of the Corporate Support team (as part of the Asset and Innovation Group) is to provide the Customs Service with efficient and effective corporate administration advice and services.
The primary purpose of this role is to review all existing procedures and desk files for the Corporate Support team (includes process mapping), and develop, trial and implement enhanced and/or new procedures and desk files to support the teams activities. You will also be expected to liaise with content owners over the production and distribution of the Services technical publications and associated information delivery services including interpreting their requirements, preparing instructions for typesetters / designers and providing quality assurance.
The Technical Officer role at Wellington reports to a Senior Business Analyst.
For this position you will need:
- Proven ability to interpret and document tasks and functions including process mapping.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including proven document writing ability.
- Proven ability to quality assure the accuracy and integrity of technical documents.
- Some knowledge of administrative procedures.
- Excellent internal and external client service and relationship management focus.
- Experience of the public sector desirable but not essential.
- Sound computer literacy on Microsoft Applications such as Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
- Enthusiasm and a determination to achieve results
Hours of Work:
Standard working hours, 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
