Steelbro New Zealand Limited is a heavy engineering/manufacturing organisation that has a global reach and is known and well respected for the high standards of their product. With a continued focus on business process improvement, they require a Purchasing Officer for their Christchurch plant for a six month contract to help establish purchasing processes that meet LEAN manufacturing requirements.
Reporting to the Purchasing Team Leader, the Purchasing Officer will be assisting with the tendering process, and researching global supply and demand to ensure procurement strategies are aligned to the market. You’ll be working with the R&D team and production staff to ensure that materials are sourced effectively, ordered to the right specification and delivered on time. You will also be working with the inventory team to bring down obsolescence and dispose of surplus materials effectively. Expediting is a large part of this role so Steelbro are looking for an individual who remains calm under pressure and can build strong supplier relationships.
Candidates must possess:
- Excellent organisational skills
- ability to work quickly whilst paying attention to detail to ensure accuracy
- Good ICT skills – preferably experience with `Syteline’ or similar ERP system
- Previous purchasing experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment would be advantageous
- A positive, can do approach
- Commitment to customer service
- A Strong focus on Health and Safety
