This role is responsible for leading a project team and are accountable for the success of a project. Project managers are responsible for an array of activities, including initializing and planning projects, developing project cost structure, tracking and reporting project deliverables, managing risk, managing contracts, applying project management processes and tools. Project management is accomplished by the application of proven methodologies and techniques with the goal of ensuring the consistent delivery of high quality services and/or solutions which meet client requirements and expectations and fulfill IBM’s obligations.An Advisory or Senior Project Manager, manages one or more assigned projects related to GTS Data Centre Client Migration Projects.Engaged as a professional to work with team members to articulate, compare, and implement solutions and alternative approaches based upon project management principles. Team members might include customer, supplier and IBM staff. Clearly communicates team results to DC Program Manager.Recognises and articulates problems related to the project / segment of the project. Applies creativity and judgment in development of solutions or deliverable objectives. As appropriate, challenges the validity of given procedures and processes with a view toward enhancement or improvement.The Project Manager requires knowledge of the PMI Process Groups; (Initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing) and knowledge of current Project Management methodologies. Demonstrates the required proficiency levels for skills defined at this position in the IBM Skills Management System. Knowledge in business matters, finance, planning, forecasting and personnel in order to manage team staff and business issuesworking closely with Program Managers and Client Project Executives to ensure that the project is well managed, and delivered predictably. The Project Manager will ensure that it complies with the appropriate IBM Project Management methods.
