Are you a natural leader with great organisational skills, strong technical ability and knowledge and experienced in building and maintaining quality relationships with major stakeholders? If so, Auckland Council has the role for you!

As the team leader of the Earthworks and Contaminated Land Team in the Resource Consents Department your responsibility will be to enhance customer value and business performance through the delivery of professional information, advice, consent processing, compliance monitoring and appropriate enforcement action

With a team of nine, you will be required to improve their understanding of regional plans and the Resource Management Act as well as getting involved in many different developments across the region. It will occasionally take you out of the office to work in the field and be so much more than just a desk job

The perfect candidate for this role will be:

  • A planner, engineer or resource management practitioner who has an interest in earthworks and contaminated land management and with approximately seven years’ experience in processing applications submitted under the RMA

You will also have

  • Political acumen and an ability to work with government and major interest groups
  • The ability to use innovation and skills to extend capabilities within the team and provide senior advice and mentoring to internal staff

This role will be varied, busy and challenging and will include financial management/budgeting, relationship management and continuous improvement of processes to ensure effective delivery of regulatory functions.
