Auckland Council has recently amalgamated to become one of the largest Information Services teams in the country.We currently operate multiple systems providing a unique opportunity to gain experience across a broad range oftechnologies and to work in a role that really makes a difference.
The Senior Security Systems Engineer is responsible for monitoring and responding to all potential and actual infrastructure security incidents while also being prepared to ‘roll their sleeves up’ and complete practical network operational tasksas opposed to purely security analysis. On call availability is essential.
Key responsibilities will include:
- In depth analysis of security events
- Real-time security infrastructure monitoring and troubleshooting
- Completion of written reports around the security infrastructure and position
- Supporting the network to troubleshoot faults that may include the security infrastructure
- Change Controls for security infrastructure
- Proactive device interrogation
The person we seek will have a very strong security focus and understanding with an extensive network background, while also being well versed across Symantec and all Microsoft platforms and have a through understanding of the security issues faced by large organisations.They will have excellent oral and written communication skills to provide recommendations and security event analysis. Current relevant certification(s) from Cisco, Juniper and/or Microsoft would be expected and CISSP would be desirable.
