In the role of Team Leader you will work as part of the regional management team that provides leadership for the Early Childhood Education (ECE) team across the Ministry of Education’s Central South Region.
Regional ECE teams administer ECE regulations for licensed services and certificated playgroups including monitoring compliance with requirements and other matters related to services meeting the standards set out in regulation.
A key focus of the regional ECE team is increasing opportunity for children to participate in quality early childhood education.This work is carried out within the important context set out in the Ministry‘s Maori Education Strategy Ka Hikitia.
As Team Leader Early Childhood Education (ECE) you will have the opportunity to build your management skills in a fast-paced and challenging environment. We are looking for someone with leadership ability to manage a team dealing with complex projects, high work volumes, and tight timeframes. You will also be required to provide professional leadership as well as technical expertise and advice to the team.
You will plan and oversee the implementation of the team’s work programme with a strong focus on evidence based problem-solving and the scheduling and integration of activities. Building effective practice, implementing consistent business processes and quality assurance for key activities are also important aspects of the role.
A sound knowledge of and/or experience in the early childhood education sector would be an advantage.
The position is based in the Ministry’s Central South regional office in Lower Hutt.
