In Australia our Coal & Technical Services business is a leading provider of coal testing and analysis, and expert advice.KEY TASKSWe now have an opportunity available at our Mackay site for a Coal Technician. Working as part of a fast-paced, busy team, you will be responsible for:
- Accurately conducting physical coal testing and analysis of routine samples including size analysis, total moisture, etc
- Receipting, recording, sorting and storing coal samples as required
- Operation of analytical and manual preparation equipment
- Compliance with analytical methods, procedures and SGS Quality Systems
- Working with team members to coordinate work flow and pick-ups, including shift hand-over.
Flexibility is critical in this position as you will be required to work day and night shifts and carry out weekend and on call work.SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEIdeally we are seeking applicants with coal sampling and testing experience, however this is not mandatory. You must be a flexible team player with strong communication skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines.Please note that there is manual handling involved in this position including some heavy lifting, and the environment can be hot and dusty.
