The National Library is creating innovative ways for New Zealanders to access and interact with our collections and services, enhancing the library as a distinctive, innovative and important cultural place and space – onsite, online and on the road.
The Public Programmes team is seeking a Team Leader, Manaakitanga, to be based in Wellington‘s new refurbished National Library building. This person will play an instrumental role in providing our Maori customers and visitors with a rewarding and insightful experience.
It will be essential that the Team Leader is able to contribute their specialist knowledge to the development and delivery of learning programmes for Maori customers and visitors. Also, they will be working on developing the bicultural implementation plan to support a strong customer service approach that will encourage all who access the library’s resources to become engaged and involved.
The successful candidate will hold a relevant tertiary qualification and/or comparable experience. They will have specialist knowledge of manaakitanga, matauranga Maori and be fluent in Te Reo Maori as this will inform the overall public programmes strategy. In addition to being an exceptional communicator, this person will need proven experience in planning, designing and delivering learning events for diverse communities. They will need to be a natural and engaging leader, who is able to relate to customers and develop their team of Kaiarahi to deliver tangibly high quality customer service.
