Building the future of Professional Golf Education
The Professional Golfers Association of New Zealand (PGA) represents over 400 members in New Zealand and overseas, comprising club and coaching professionals, touring professional golfers, trainees and senior members.
The three main functions of the PGA are to:
Administer the education programme for trainee professionals, and ongoing professional development for other members
Organise and promote tournaments for playing members
Contribute to the growth and general health of the game of golf through its network of members and relationships with commercial partners, other industry participants and fellow PGAs in the World PGA Alliance
The education and ongoing professional development of members is a core function of the Professional Golfers Association of New Zealand, and pivotal to our future success and progress in an increasingly demanding business and industry environment.
The Education Managers role is key to this, and we are seeking applications to fill the vacancy arising from the current managers resignation.
The position encompasses the PGA NZ Trainee programme, currently run under a licensing arrangement to the PGA of Australia, the further development of the Coaching Pathways joint venture project with NZ Golf, and all aspects of ongoing professional development for members. Developments such as E-learning, focused business training, our work with NZ Golf and our association with industry specialists in sports education all provide considerable scope for the next Education Manager to take the role to a new level, and have the PGA of New Zealands education programmes recognised as setting the benchmark across the World PGA Alliance.
Key personal qualities required for the role will include a sound appreciation of current education, learning and coaching practices, a passion for and understanding of the game of golf, the ability to build strong relationships across the industry, a strategic approach to decision making, integrity and impartiality, and excellent project management and organisational skills.
The position is currently a full time employed role based at the PGA office in Takapuna, Auckland, but we are also open to applications from candidates seeking project-based or part-time work to take us through the next phase of development of our education programme.
A full position description is available from duncan.simpson@pga.org.nz, and confidential enquiries can be made to 09 488 6616 or 021 756 801.
Applications, which should be accompanied by a full CV, should be sent or emailed to Duncan Simpson, PGA of New Zealand, PO Box 33-678, Takapuna, AUCKLAND 0740, to arrive no later than Friday 8 July 2011.
