Join the operationally focused Land and Coastal Processes Management team of 11 specialists in the areas of contaminated land risk assessment and management, geotechnical stability and coastal management.

This role offers exciting challenges in assessing contaminated land and closed landfill risks across the Auckland Region, recommending remedial or management actions and implementing projects addressing identified risks. The Land and Coastal Processes Management team carries a high internal profile, regularly engaging with other operational units as well as regulatory, planning, policy and legal departments within Auckland Council. The team also liaises with other government agencies such as the Ministry for the Environment and the Auckland Regional Public Health Service.

We are looking for a technically experienced individual with a Bachelors degree in environmental science or equivalent, and with proven abilities in assessing soil contamination and closed landfill risks and impacts (health and environmental), the skills to identify and prioritise site risks and assist in providing strategies to asset owners for remedial or site management works. Experience with project and budget management is preferred.

The ideal candidate will need to possess excellent technical skills as well as a reasonable understanding of local government processes and regulatory requirements, and have well-developed relationship management skills for dealing with team members, internal stakeholders and external customers. The ability to clearly communicate complex information in a variety of forums and to a range of stakeholders and organisations will also be key.
