This key permanent appointment will provide an exciting opportunity to gain exposure to a range of experiences in a truly dynamic role where you can make your mark.Reporting to a Group Finance Manager, as the Management Accountant you will work as part of a team providing customer focused financial and business performance services to the Council business units. Critical to your success will be your ability to provide accuratep financial management advice, together with analysis and commentary at the Council Group level, to enable decisions to be made regarding daily operations, strategic development and growth.As a Management Accountant, you will take a proactive approach to ensure that financial issues are highlighted and addressed. You will review group performance against annual plans, budgets and forecasting results, reporting and presenting any variances to the Finance Manager. You will provide scenario planning and financial modelling as required and will manage accounting standards for the business group by providing an overview of financial data.To be successful, you will have a tertiary degree majoring in Accounting or Finance and will be a member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants or equivalent. You will have broad commercial management accounting experience and will have a proven history of working with complex operating and capital budgets. Your ability to work collaboratively and provide meaningful information to line managers will be strengths.
