As a Residential Manager, you will lead a professional team of Officers in taking responsibility for a specific cluster of Units across the site. By providing professional leadership in all aspects of operational and offender management you will maintain quality standards and ensure statutory obligations are met in line with Department policy.
Through the development and implementation of best practices, processes and key initiatives aligned to the overall Prison Service strategy, you will support the Prison Manager in monitoring risk and improving service delivery.
The development of effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders will be key to your success as you encourage teamwork and co-operation between all parties. Promoting staff development and rewarding good performance will engage your team in raising capability in all aspects of their role, including Health & Safety.

    • Proven custodial experience at a management level
    • Exceptional communication skills, initiative and leadership qualities
    • The ability to succeed at both a strategic and operational level
    • A focus on continuous improvement and quality standards
    • The commitment to develop staff and improve performance
    • Familiarity of the Treaty of Waitangi and an understanding of the factors impacting on offender rehabilitation & reintegration.
A relevant tertiary qualification is preferred.
