We are looking for a Senior Planning Advisor who can take a leading role in influencing, coordinating, and aligning integrated planning and investment for the land transport system in the Upper North Island. Based in Tauranga, the successful candidate will be a key member of a team that works in a collaborative and multi disciplinary manner with other agencies to bring strategic, land use, and transport planning together to inform investment decisions for the transport system.The successful candidate will work for the Planning and Investment Business Group and have:

  • A working knowledge of the Resource Management Act, Land Transport Management Act, and Local Government Act planning processes
  • Strategic thinking skills and previous success in strategic policy development, and its integration with land use and infrastructure planning.
  • Experience and practical application of Regional and District Plans, and in environmental planning for infrastructure projects, including assessment of environmental effects and in the preparation and review of planning applications and notices of requirement
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including a proven ability to build and foster positive collaborative
  • Relationships, and negotiate multi-party solutions
  • Strong verbal and written communication and advocacy skills
  • A planning or relevant related qualification.
