The company operates a broad portfolio of businesses including newspapers, radio stations, printing companies, outdoor advertising, and of course digital media.Reporting in to our Business Editor, we are seeking a Business reporter/Content producer for nzherald.co.nz, the premier news website in New Zealand.The duties for this position will be wide-ranging but primarily involves working closely with the Business Editor to ensure nzherald.co.nz Business section is well managed and continues to attract a growing audience. You will assist in planning and developing the Business section, identify the biggest stories for readers and seek constantly to improve the Business section with the latest digital publishing solutions so readers are committed and loyal to the brand.Other responsibilities include writing, updating and loading stories as required; ensuring the Business section is maximized through news judgment, balance of stories and turnover of news; liaise with product managers when new product initiatives are released; ensure quality of variety of material; propose improvements to the Business section and monitor the website continually to ensure problems are corrected and Editors and Online Champions are advised if further action is necessary.We are looking for an individual who is a self starter with fantastic multitasking skills who enjoys working in a challenging, innovative and fast-paced environment. You will have good knowledge of international and New Zealand Business and Business reporting and have relevant online experience. Outstanding communication skills is a must have, given the internal and external relationships that need to be gathered and maintained effectively at all times.We are looking for a journalist/Editor who can combine all the duties of the Business Editor; reporting on Business, copy-tasting, editing for publication, sourcing content and liaising with Herald Business team, the APNZ news wire, photographers and video producers. Experience with video and social media would be an asset.You will be joining a team of online journalists and editors dedicated to making nzherald the best online news service for New Zealanders.
