Permanent, Full-time position Vacancy 5707 Consult, advise and form key partnerships Add value to your communityThe Community Support Unit of the Christchurch City Council has recently undertaken a change process to better address the community support needs of the city following the earthquakes.Reporting to the newly created Strengthening Communities Team Leader role, the key focus of the Strengthening Communities Adviser position is to take responsibility for engaging, mobilising, organising and building strong communities. You will lead processes to stimulate local action and assist sectors working towards improved social, safety, wellbeing and cultural quality of life conditions.In this proactive role, you will be responsible for providing advice and tailored assistance to community organisations and facilitating community development processes to empower community groups towards self sufficiency. Importantly, you will identify and develop key relationships and engage with community stakeholders maintaining information flow through hosting network meetings, public forums and consultation seminars. A key advocate for the Council‘s various Community Grants Schemes you will demonstrate expertise and knowledge of these programmes back to community organisations and provide professional advice.Your background will include previous experience in community coordination/advisory processes and practices supported by a relevant tertiary qualification. You will have effective relationship management skills with the ability to work collaboratively and in partnership with a range of entities, be well organised with highly effective time management and have well developed oral and written communication including presentation and consultation skills.
