The Manawatu Cricket Association is widely recognised as one of the premier District Cricket Associations in New Zealand. Manawatu Cricket is the home of four players that appeared for the Black Caps in the last year including Captain Ross Taylor, Jacob Oram, Adam Milne, and Jamie How. We are also the home of 5 other CD Stags and 5 CD Hinds players and Manawatu Senior and Junior rep teams have dominated CD competitions winning half of all competitions over the last 5 years. The excellence of performance achieved on the field by Manawatu players has been a result of much hard work by Manawatu players, supporters, stakeholders, board and staff to provide players of all ages with magnificent facilities and deliver coaching and development programmes considered to be some of the finest in New Zealand. With our successful Operations Manager heading overseas at the end of the season, we have looked at the best way to continue this success and take the organisation to the next level and as a result are looking at establishing three new positions including this role of Coaching Manager. We are seeking talented, driven and dynamic people to fill the following role.

RESPONSIBLE FOR:MCA Junior Rep Coaches, MCA Academy Coaches, MCA One-on-One resource coaches.
REMUNERATION: Negotiable with successful candidate
HOURS OF WORK:Full-time, Over-time expected. The role will frequently include weekend work and the seasonally variable hours will frequently require evening work.
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Lead the direction and implementation of Manawatu Crickets High Performance programmes including driving the continued development and expansion of the MCA Academy, the MCA Junior Rep Programme, the MCA Coach Education programme, Womens Rep Cricket and coaching performance systems in the Manawatu region, as well as coaching the Manawatu Senior Mens Representative team.
The 5 major components of the role are:
  • MCA Academy
  • Junior Representative Coaching Programme
  • Coach Education
  • Senior Mens Representative Team Coach
  • Performance Systems and Womens Cricket
Details of the specific duties associated with each of the 5 components are as follows:
1. MCA ACADEMY
High Performance Academy
Lead the direction of the MCA High Performance Academy and work with the Executive Consultant on analysing the possibilities for future expansion of the MCA Academy concept.
Identify appropriate specialist coaches for the MCA High Performance Academy and coordinate their availability and delivery.
Identify, in conjunction with the Development Manager, individuals to participate in the MCA High Performance Academy.
Identify, coordinate, and monitor suitable players and mentors to participate in the new MCA Mentor One-on-One Programme.
Ensure the operation of the High Performance Academy runs within agreed budgets
Assist and supervise the delivery of MCA High Performance Academy Specialist Clinics. Make appropriate notes/comments on every Academy player during sessions and take video footage to assist record keeping and analysis of players
Keep full playing and coaching records, including video footage, of players who participate in the MCA High Performance Academy and mentor programmes. Discuss these reports with the team coach of the academy players to ensure that these players receive the necessary continuity in their preparations.
Furnish a report for each player who participates in the High Performance Academy to their respective representative coach identifying strengths and weaknesses.
2. JUNIOR REPRESENTATIVE COACHING PROGRAMME
Implement a thorough Junior Representative coaching programme, including organising an appropriately full Junior Rep match schedule, and developing comprehensive in-season and winter coaching programmes.
The Coaching Manager should at all times seek to align junior elite programmes with the MCAs Elite Strategic Plan fulfilling the duties and agreed standards and targets at the beginning of each season.
Appoint Junior Rep Coaches and Managers for all teams, in liaison with the Development Manager.
Coach at least one Manawatu Junior Rep team
Organise the promotion and delivery of Manawatu Junior Rep team trials
Set up training and coaching timetable and monitor use of cricket centre facilities
Oversee ongoing bookings for the cricket centre
Develop individualised JCB player programmes, goals and technical areas to work on with Junior Rep Team coaches.
Conduct individualised JCB player programmes and goals end of season reviews in conjunction with Junior Rep Team coaches
3. COACH EDUCATION
Oversee all aspects of the MCA Coach Education programme, including organising, identifying candidates, and delivering the various coaching courses run by the MCA including the NZC Level One and Two Coaching Courses, Coach a Team course, in school teacher training programme, Have-A-Go and Kiwi Courses and the teach your child at home course.
Act as a mentor for MCA Staff Coaches, as well as the regions Level 1 and 2 coaches, and identified Coach-A-Team coaches from time to time monitoring the coaches in action and provide feedback to assist their development.
Run in conjunction with the Development Manager a refresher coaching day for all the coaches the MCA use in various schools, HAG, Kiwi programmes etc prior to the season to ensure our coaches are delivering the programmes in the way they should be.
Run an informal coaches evening for MCA team and resource coaches, local club, schools coaches and junior rep coaches to discuss various aspects of coaching twice a season.
4. SENIOR MENS REPRESENTATIVE TEAM COACH
Senior Mens A Representative Coaching
Responsible for developing all representative players cricket knowledge as well as their technical, physical, mental, tactical, and life skills.
Formulate, develop and implement pre-season and in-season training programmes for Senior Mens A squad.
Plan and deliver practises as well as identifying appropriate specialist fitness and mental coaches to be used in the Senior Mens A Squad pre-season and in-season coaching programmes and coordinating their delivery of specialist sessions.
Oversee, coordinate, evaluate and lead the team during match days.
Initiate individual KPI and cricket diaries for all squad members.
Communicate the coaching philosophy and selection process to the players.
Co-ordinate the team dynamics to maximise individual and team performance, instilling a culture of success within the side.
Be proactive in identifying problems of any sort that affect team performance and raise any issues that with the EC either personally or through the team manager in a timely manner to enable appropriate responses and solutions to be implemented.
Co-ordinate the team build up, individual preparation and the team game plan.
Act as a role model for the team and always highlight the employer in a positive light.
Manage and evaluate the preparation and performances of players who participate in the Representative Programme.
Co-ordinate and manage the rehabilitation of injured players who participate in the pre-season and in-season programmes.
Senior Mens A Rep Administration and Management
Keep full playing and coaching records, including video footage, of all Senior A Mens Rep squad players.
Furnish a report for each player who participates in the pre-season and in-season representative programme to the player so that identified strengths and weaknesses can be developed.
Participate in and lead the senior selection process for the Senior Men Rep team.
Report to fellow selectors regarding performance of the players and the team.
Formulate, lead and direct talent identification processes in all areas of the representative programmes.
Liaise and promote the MCA with local print and radio media when requested.
Organise a Senior Mens Rep team Manager & ensure Match Details liaison is appropriately coordinated.
5. PERFORMANCE SYSTEMS AND WOMENS REP CRICKET
Look to implement performance coaching programmes in targeted Primary, Intermediate, and Secondary Schools to ensure our major production lines of talent are receiving the appropriate level of coaching support.
Provide Coaching input to the MCA Development Plan
Coordinate and monitor club coaching programme
Organise and implement a high level elite Women’s Representative playing and Coaching programme.
Organise and mentor senior Womens Rep Team Coach who will run practices.
