We have several opportunities for motivated, positive and experienced communications advisors and senior communications advisors in our newly formed Communications Division.

The Communications Division is responsible for the development and implementation of the Department of Labours internal and external communications programme.

We are looking for advisors and senior advisors with a strong background in communications and/or media, who are comfortable developing and implementing strategic communications plans and who have a natural flair developing and enhancing relationships with stakeholders and team members.

We have a range of roles, fixed-term and permanent:

Your time management and prioritising skills will be utilised well in a busy and productive work environment, where no two days are the same.

For all roles, we are looking for communications professionals with the following:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience developing and implementing strategic communications plans, and agency or client briefs
  • Experience and understanding of change communications and best practice
  • The ability to develop positive relationships with stakeholders and understand others points of view
  • The ability to prioritise and think strategically
  • A tertiary qualification in communications, marketing or media and/or equivalent comparable experience in this field
  • Skill in identifying risks and opportunities, analysing them and developing plans to mitigate them
  • Some understanding of government processes

For the external roles, we are also looking for:

  • Experience developing proactive media plans
  • Ability to provide sound advice about media approaches based on the Departments positioning
  • Skill and experience in developing and maintaining positive media relationships
  • Good media contacts
