The Case Management team ensures that prisoners who have served their sentence are equipped with the skills they need and are ready to return to the community. Operating within Rehabilitation and Reintegration Services (RRS)it assists in providing programmes and services to prisoners and offenders in the community.
Case Managers provide specialist, end to end case management of prisoners including initial assessment, identification of prisoner needs, case planning and preparing prisoners for release. Case Managers use a range of services and techniques such as motivational interviewing and working with external support groups and the prisoners’ families to support prisoners as they rehabilitate.
Senior Case Managers will deal with prisoners identified with high and complex needs. They will also provide on the job guidance and support to Case Managers and play a key role in embedding practice standards as well as supporting the implementation of new policies and procedures.
Candidates will need knowledge and experience in case management and/or rehabilitation and reintegration related disciplines and practices. Effective relationship management and communication skills are also essential, particularly the ability to communicate verbally in a respectful way that motivates and supports prisoners to make positive changes.
Knowledge and experience working with Maori and Pacific Peoples and their families and communities is essential. A Social Work qualification and registration is desirable.
