The company is among the top ten geothermal operators in the world and our geothermal development programme is part of our strategy to investigate a wide range of renewable generation options that meet New Zealands growing demand for electricity.
Given our investment in geothermal development, we now have a great opportunity for a number of Geothermal Production Technicians to be a part of the development and operation of our new geothermal power station – Ngatamariki – located approx 7km from Taupo.
In this role you will become an integral part of the team that operates our geothermal generation assets on a four-on/four-off 12 hour shift rotation. This is an exceptional opportunity for the right individuals to make a difference in a forward thinking company who pride themselves in being at the cutting edge of geothermal generation.
As a Production Technician, you will be responsible for the safe operation ofthe generation assets in accordance with standard operating procedures. This role encompasses data collection and entry for plant performance evaluation and gives the individuals the responsibility of having sole charge of operations outside of business hours. As such, your excellent organisational and interpersonal skills will be put to good use here.
To be successful in this role you need:
  • At least five years experience and a qualification in operation / control or a trade background within a heavy process or manufacturing environment. Previous experience in a geothermal or energy industry is preferred but not essential
  • A National Certificate in Energy & Chemical Plant (Process Operation) Level 4 is desirable, but candidates who are willing to study towards this qualification will be considered
  • To have a strong commitment to health, safety and the environment
  • The ability to build rapport with all levels of the Mighty River Power team and external stakeholders
  • A proven ability to meet goals and targets
  • Knowledge of asset management and operations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to work under pressure and deliver results in a sole charge environment
