For more information about MAF, please visitwww.maf.govt.nzAbout the role:In this role you will be responsible for the development and implementation of an intelligence and profiling capability to support both MAF’s operational branches. You will be working across the Ministry and with other intelligence agencies to develop our framework and realise the benefits from major initiatives.You will be responsible for:

  • In the first twelve months key responsibilities will be the development of an intelligence framework; building the capability for MAF’s two operational branches; and reviewing our readiness for change.
  • Working with Customs to develop the risk and intelligence components of the Joint Border Management Systems (JBMS).
  • Supporting integrated intelligence, targeting and operations models at a sector level, including fisheries, animal welfare and biosecurity.
  • Effective border screening and profiling operations and the analysis and reporting of risk data and information.
  • Leading the development of major initiatives.

To be successful you will have experience in:

  • Working in the intelligence field.
  • Leading and developing staff and leading change.
  • Strategic and business planning.
  • Risk management methodologies and profiling techniques.
  • Analysing technical issues and making business decisions with financial impact.
  • Strong communications and presentation skills.
  • Understanding of technology.
